Heritage

The first records of Richard Hunter and Lambert Hyland making curtain poles and hardware date back to 1889 in central London and we have been making luxury bespoke hardware ever since. There has always been a focus on quality British manufacture and this will never change.

The company started as a busy workshop on New Oxford Street. Then as it grew, production moved to High Holborn then Red Lion Square before moving to Battersea after the Second World War. The company moved again in 1976 when the business moved to Leatherhead to accommodate an ever-growing team where it still resides today.

Hunter & Hyland has always been a family business with family values at its heart. It was owned and run by its founders until the 1920s and has since passed through several families.

The business is now operated by Jonathan Moon who maintains the goal to stick to the roots of the business – producing quality, British curtain poles with a focus on design and longevity, offering clients the ability to purchase all required workroom essentials.
